La Trobe University has confirmed its place as a world-leading University in the latest QS World University subject rankings.
La Trobe is ranked in the top 50 universities worldwide for sports-related subjects and the top 100 for Nursing and Archaeology.
Life Sciences and Medicine rose 42 places from 2019 and Arts and Humanities rose 12 places.
La Trobe Vice-Chancellor Professor John Dewar said the outstanding rankings reflected the University's world-leading reputation for teaching and research.
"Our top 40 positioning in the world for sports-related research and teaching is fitting given the development of our $150 million Sports Park - a key component of our $5 billion University City of the Future plan," Professor Dewar said.
"We are also recognised on the world stage for our outstanding research and teaching in health sciences, with our expertise in nursing reinforced with this top 100 global position.
"And our long-standing reputation in archaeology - with La Trobe experts leading the way with discoveries that change our understanding of human evolution - has deservedly been recognised in these latest QS rankings."
Professor John Dewar congratulated La Trobe staff on the results.
"These latest QS subject rankings are testament to our high-impact research and teaching and our strong industry partnerships across a wide spectrum of subjects.
"Our degree programs are focused on providing students with the best possible learning experience during their studies, leading to successful careers upon graduation," Professor Dewar said.
Sports related subjects at La Trobe University rank 38th in the world.
Nursing and Archaeology are ranked in the top 100.
La Trobe has four subjects in the 101-200 band: Philosophy, Psychology, Education and Sociology.
Five subjects - English Language and Literature, Linguistics, Agriculture and Forestry, Accounting and Finance and Law - are in the 201-300 band.
Four subjects - Biological Sciences, Mathematics, Business and Management Studies and Economic and Econometrics - are in the 301-400 band.
One subject - Computer Science and Information Systems - is in the 401-500 band, and one subject - Chemistry - is in the 501-600 band.
La Trobe has been ranked in 18 of the survey's 46 subjects. All 18 of the ranked subjects this year were also featured in last year's results.
In broad subject areas, Arts and Humanities rose to 266 from 278 in 2019, and Life Sciences and Medicine rose to 313 from 355 in 2019.
