Optus has selected La Trobe University as a key partner to deliver its innovative new employee training program, Optus U.
Under the initiative selected Optus staff will study a bespoke curriculum in Artificial Intelligence and Automation.
La Trobe Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education Professor Nicolette Lee said the delivery of courses for Optus U reflected a long and successful relationship with Optus, as well as the University’s proven track record as a provider of quality courses valued by leading industry partners.
“We are delighted to be supporting Optus in developing their offer to employees,” Professor Lee said.
“Optus U makes the most of La Trobe University’s versatility and experience in tailoring advanced short and award courses to match industry needs.
“La Trobe’s teaching team for Optus U are taking their world-leading research on Automation and Artificial Intelligence into practical learning for Optus U students and developing skills grounded on their professional needs.”
Optus Head of Human Resources Kate Aitken said the first intake of students had recently begun their studies.
“Continuous learning is the key to any career development plan and a diverse set of skills provides mobility to move forward in your career. We want our employees to frame their own future, unleash their potential and take pride in their career.
“To help make this happen, we’ve joined forces with high-profile partners across Australia to enhance and expand our people’s skill sets through recognised certifications and accreditations,” she said.
The first intake of students is part way through their course now, studying with either La Trobe University or fellow partner, Macquarie University. Additional industry and education partners are set to come onboard over the next few months.
