Tasmanian Labor
  • Labor commends the work of Legacy
  • Urges public to support Legacy's annual fundraising drive
  • Assisting 60-thousand people within the veterans community
  • Labor is throwing its support behind Legacy Week being held across the country for the 78th year from August 30 - September 5.

Shadow Minister for Veterans' Affairs Jo Siejka will join volunteers in the annual fundraising drive, handing out the iconic Legacy Badge on Wednesday in the Hobart CBD.

"We commend the amazing work Legacy does supporting the families of veterans in need, including those who are in need and I want to support them however I can," Ms Siejka said.

"Most of the 60-thousand beneficiaries of Legacy's assistance nationally are elderly widows, and during Legacy Week we remember the sacrifice they and their families have made.

"Labor encourages the public to get on board with the annual appeal across all our cities and towns, and hopefully we'll see you wearing the Legacy torch, signifying the undying flame of sacrifice and service."

    Jo Siejka
