With Healthcare and Social Assistance being one of the biggest and fastest growing industries in North and North West Tasmania1, Launceston women are being encourage to explore a career in the disability sector.
Work & Training, part of the IntoWork Australia Group, are hosting free Career Discovery Session for women of all ages at various stages of their careers and schooling who are interested in finding out more about the sector.
The sessions will give women the opportunity to hear from those currently working in the industry, as well as employers who can discuss jobs prospects.
Presenters will also talk about what disability means, careers and various roles within the disability sector, transferable skills and career guidance support, work expectations and workplace discovery sessions.
Work & Training CEO Leanne Wallace said a career in disability support is extremely rewarding, "You have the opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives, helping them live as independently as possible to enable them to have the best quality of life. There's a wide range of roles available in the sector and demand for staff is high so it's a great time to launch your career in disability support," Ms Wallace said.
The intimate and informal sessions will be held across north and north western Tasmania, including Burnie at Burnie Library on November 14 at 1.30pm, Scottsdale (venue to be confirmed) on November 17 at 11am, Devonport at Work & Training's Devonport office on November 24 at 11am and Launceston at Work & Training's Launceston office on December 2 at 4pm. They'll be light refreshments available.
