Leading economists explore ideas for growth in post-pandemic world

As nations ready themselves for the challenges and opportunities in a post-Covid world, leading economics scholars from across the globe have gathered in Singapore to discuss the global economy's recovery at the 9th Singapore Economic Review Conference, organised by the Singapore Economic Review.

The three-day conference, held from 1 - 3 Aug 2022, brings together more than 200 academics, scholars and business leaders from over 50 countries.

The conference is the biennial flagship event of the Singapore Economic Review, a quarterly journal devoted to the publication of high-quality papers on all aspects of economics, with a special emphasis on Asia.

Professor Euston Quah, NTU Albert Winsemius Chair Professor of Economics and President of the Economic Society of Singapore, is the journal's editor.

Minister for Education Mr Chan Chun Sing was the guest of honour at the conference's opening ceremony.

This year's conference topics span diverse topics from climate change; China, India and other emerging economies; conflicts and their impact on South-East Asian economies; and the impact of cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence.

Speakers at the conference include Professor Jong-Wha Lee, Dean of the College of Political Science and Economics, and Dean of the Graduate School of Policy Studies at Korea University, and Professor Michael G. Plummer, Director of SAIS Europe and Eni Professor of International Economics at Johns Hopkins University.
