Luxembourg Boosts UNDP Funding to Combat Poverty, Global Crises

New York - Luxembourg has invested EUR 5.9 million (USD 6.36 million) in flexible and thematic funding to UNDP for 2023. The amount includes EUR 3.1 million towards UNDP regular 'core' resources and EUR 2,9 million fully flexible funds to all four Funding windows on Poverty and Inequality; Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment; Nature, Climate, and Energy; Governance, Peacebuilding, Crisis and Resilience.

At the mid-point of the 2030 Agenda, Luxembourg's timely contribution boosts UNDP's critical work for sustainable development around the world in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the principal of leaving no one behind.

UNDP thanks the Government and people of Luxembourg for the close partnership and their consistent support to flexible funding in line with the Secretary General's Funding Compact. The UNDP Luxembourg partnership builds on a multi-year agreement to flexible resources that allows UNDP to respond to crises and shocks with speed and agility and to plan ahead to effectively address emerging development challenges.

UNDP and Luxembourg are committed to strengthening the joint partnership in areas of shared priority such as poverty alleviation, climate finance, gender equality and democratic governance.

Luxembourg's contribution to core resources will also help to strengthen UNDP's oversight and accountability functions, ensuring that the organization continues delivering programmes effectively, efficiently, and in line with the highest standards of transparency and accountability.
