Cabonne Council is pleased to advise that the boundary adjustment to incorporate North Yeoval into the Cabonne Local Government Area has now been finalised, with the new boundary adjustment set to take effect from 1 July 2026.
The proposal was jointly progressed by both Cabonne Council and Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) throughout 2024 and 2025, with a formal application lodged with the Office of Local Government (OLG) on 13 January 2026. Extensive consultation was undertaken at various stages, including direct engagement with landowners and the broader Yeoval community.
To support the transition, Cabonne Council and DRC have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining funding for key local infrastructure, including a shared pathway along Renshaw McGirr Way and updated street signage.
The adjustment reached its final stage following consideration by the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of NSW on 17 June 2026, with formal notification now received ahead of the 1 July 2026 commencement.
Mayor of Cabonne, Kevin Beatty said the adjustment represents a positive, community-driven outcome.
"This boundary adjustment reflects what the community has been advocating for over many years, bringing Yeoval together under one council to provide clearer, more consistent services," Mayor Beatty said.
"We're pleased to be working collaboratively with Dubbo Regional Council to deliver this outcome and support the future of the Yeoval community."
Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said the decision made sense for everyone.
"This change finally unifies the North Yeoval community with Yeoval under the banner of one single Council. It's a practical, common-sense change and one that removes confusion and gives residents clear, straightforward access to the services they need. This is the kind of decision that puts community first, and it sets North Yeoval up for a strong future."
Dubbo Regional Council will write directly to affected North Yeoval property owners in the coming weeks to formally advise of the change and what it means for their property. From 1 July 2026, Cabonne Council will assume responsibility for rates, services and enquiries, with further information to be provided to residents to support a smooth transition.
The initiative responds to long-standing community feedback and will unify the village of Yeoval under one local government area, improving service delivery and reducing confusion for residents.
