Man arrest for Collie scrub fire

As a result of a joint investigation by officers from Collie Police Station, Bunbury Detectives and Strike Force Vulcan investigators, a 28-year-old man has been charged with lighting a scrub fire in Collie on Monday, 6 February 2023.

It will be alleged that, at about 7.45am, the man set fire to dry grass in bushland located on Patstone Road near Harris River Road which spread to cover approximately 20 square metres.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended and were able to control and extinguish the fire before it spread any further.

The 28-year-old man from Collie has been charged with:

• One count of Wilfully Light or Cause to be Lit, a Fire Likely to Injure or Damage. (This offence carries a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment).

He is due to appear before the Bunbury Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 8 February 2023.
