A man has been arrested after multiple alleged vehicle thefts and a siege in Sydney's Northern Beaches yesterday.
Just after 2.30pm (Tuesday 26 October 2026), officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports of two car thefts in Beacon Hill.
Police were told the cars – both BMWs – had allegedly been stolen from a home on Reynolds Crescent, between 1pm and 2.30pm earlier that day.
Following initial inquiries, police attended a hardware store on Allambie Road, Frenchs Forest, where one of the stolen BMWs was located abandoned. The car was seized for forensic examination.
The second stolen BMW then left the scene, with the driver allegedly failing to stop for police.
A pursuit was initiated but was shortly terminated due to safety concerns.
Police – with assistance from PolAir - observed the car travel through Killarney Heights, Frenchs Forest, Brookvale, and Allambie Heights, during which the BMW allegedly hit several parked cars and drove over multiple median strips and footpaths.
The BMW was then abandoned on Ellis Road, Beacon Hill, before the driver allegedly left the scene in a third stolen vehicle – a Toyota Supra – parked nearby.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop, a second pursuit was initiated, but was shortly terminated due to safety concerns.
The driver then abandoned the third car after mounting an embankment on Roosevelt Street, Allambie Heights, before engaging in a foot pursuit with police.
The driver then climbed onto a nearby home on Kirra Road, where he allegedly threatened officers.
Officers attached to Northern Beaches and North Shore Police Area Commands, Highway and Traffic Patrol Command, Public Order and Riot Squad and Tactical Operations Group, established a perimeter around the home and attempted to speak to the man.
About 6.20pm the same day, police arrested the man – aged 30 – at the scene before taking him to Royal North Shore Hospital for assessment, where he remains under police guard.
Several crime scenes have been established across Sydney's north, with officers attached to State Crime Command's Raptor Squad commencing an investigation into the incident.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
