Man assaulted on Frankston bound train

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted on a train between Frankston and Kananook railway stations in March.

Police have been told the victim boarded the city bound train at Frankston on Sunday 28 March, before he was approached by another man, about 1.50am.

The 51-year-old victim was then assaulted by the other commuter while the train was in motion before getting off the train at Kananook railway station.

As a result of the unprovoked attack, the victim received serious facial injuries that were treated in hospital.

Investigators have released images and vision of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The male is perceived to be Caucasian, in his early 20's, with short brown hair and was wearing a white and black hoodie, grey pants and white shoes
