Man charged for involvement in Punchbowl kidnapping

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a man over his alleged role in a kidnapping in Punchbowl under Strike Force Pepis.

Police have been told about 9.25pm on Sunday 21 March 2021, a 30-year-old man was confronted by a group of men at a Punchbowl home, before he was dragged onto the street and forced into a van.

Officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The man allegedly returned home on Tuesday 23 March 2023 and did not require hospital treatment.

State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Pepis.

Last year, strike force detectives arrested and charged a 22-year-old man who remains before the courts.

Following further extensive inquiries, about 7.20am today (Wednesday 7 June 2023), strike force detectives – with assistance from Raptor Squad – attended a home in Condell Park where they arrested a 22-year-old man.

The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm and participate in criminal group.

He was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today.

Investigations under Strike Force Pepis continue.
