The Northern Territory Police Force have extradited a 36-year-old man from Western Australia to Darwin in relation to an alleged assault in 2023.
The man is alleged to have assaulted his former partner and three unrelated people who intervened during the incident at the Darwin Waterfront on 8 March 2023.
He was arrested shortly after the incident and later granted Supreme Court bail, allowing him to return to Perth.
In the months that followed, the man allegedly committed further offences in Western Australia and remained under legal restraint in that jurisdiction, preventing his immediate extradition to the Northern Territory.
Detectives from the Northern Domestic and Family Violence Investigation Unit subsequently obtained a Northern Territory Supreme Court warrant for his apprehension.
The man has now been extradited from Perth to Darwin and is expected to face the following charges:
- Four counts of Aggravated assault
- One count of Unlawfully causing serious harm
- One count of Aggravated unlawful entry
He is expected to appear before the Supreme Court on Monday 21 September 2026.
