Man Faces Additional Charges for Indecently Recording Children

Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad have further charged a 24-year-old man as a result of their investigation into alleged indecent recording of children at a sports centre in Craigie.

The man was arrested on Thursday 25 May 2023, after police were called to the sports centre in relation to an incident involving a child being recorded in a cubicle. The man was charged in relation to that incident and an electronic device was seized for examination.

As part of the ongoing investigation the man has been further charged with 18 offences. Those offences relate to the initial victim and four additional victims identified during the course of the investigation.

The additional charges are:

• 14 x Indecently Recorded a Child under 13 years; and

• 4 x Indecently Deals with a Child under 13 years.

He is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on the additional charges today, Friday 9 June 2023.
