Man Faces Court Over Seizure of $2M Worth of Drugs

A man will face court today charged after Organised Crime Squad detectives seized more than $1 million worth of prohibited drugs in Sydney's south.

Just after 7pm yesterday (Thursday 11 May 2023), detectives from State Crime Command's Organised Crime Squad stopped a Mazda sedan travelling on Liverpool Road, Strathfield South and spoke to the driver, a 32-year-old man.

During the search of the vehicle, investigators located $140,000 cash, and mobile phones. These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.

Following further inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a unit complex in Dowling Street, Waterloo, just before 11.30pm yesterday.

Investigators seized 2kg of methylamphetamine, 1kg of MDMA, $12,700 cash, and drug paraphernalia for forensic examination.

The seized prohibited drugs have an estimated potential street value of $2.05 million.

The 32-year-old man was arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of large commercial drug supply, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Friday 12 May 2023).
