Maryborough Trials Business, Community Precinct

Maryborough Police have today commenced a trial of the Designated Business and Community Precinct (DBCP).

The trial of the DBCP will allow officers to issue 24-hour move-on directions to offenders engaging in disorderly, offensive, threatening or violent behaviours.

Repeat or serious offenders can also be issued banning notices of up to three months.

This trial will be run alongside ongoing local operations with a range of stakeholders to address the root causes of antisocial behaviour and increase community safety.

It will also compliment Jack's Law which allows officers to use handheld metal detectors to scan for weapons in high-risk locations without a warrant.

Acting Superintendent Brad Inskip said the new trial will continue the extensive collaborative work with partner agencies to further support the community.

"The Queensland Police service is committed to ensuring residents and business owners in Maryborough are safe and feel safe," said Acting Superintendent Brad Inskip.

"Police will work extensively with external agencies throughout the trial to listen to and respond to emerging community concerns."
