Maylands burglary investigation

Mirrabooka Detectives are seeking information regarding a burglary in Maylands on Wednesday 16 December 2020.

About 12noon a man and a woman approached a house on Kelvin Street, possibly pretending to be salespersons or charity workers. After first knocking on the door, the pair forced entry to the home through the front door.

At the time a 13-year-old girl was home alone while her mother was at a neighbouring property. The girl locked herself in a room and contacted her mother, who arrived with another family member a short time later.

The male offender searched the house and stole several items including jewellery and a handbag. A family member entered the house and confronted the man inside. The man threatened the woman with a metal bar, demanding keys to a vehicle. The man left without the keys and fled the scene on foot.

None of the victims were injured.

Detectives are seeking CCTV or dash camera vision of anyone acting suspiciously in the area, particularly a man and woman who may have been approaching houses. Vision can be uploaded via this link: https://wapf.au.evidence.com/axon/citizen/public/maylands-burglary-16122020
