  • Top ranking maintained for 11 years
  • National rankings in multiple subspecialties and high performing ratings for several procedures and conditions achieved
  • Ranking reflects commitment to excellence in cancer patient care

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center today was ranked number one in the nation for cancer care in U.S. News & World Report's 2025-2026 "Best Hospitals" survey. The institution has maintained the top ranking for the past 11 years and has consistently been one of the top two hospitals in the nation for cancer care since the inaugural survey in 1990.

"We are honored to again be ranked as the nation's top hospital for cancer care - a recognition that reaffirms our commitment to our shared mission to end cancer," said Peter WT Pisters, M.D., president of MD Anderson. "We are grateful to every one of our teammates, trainees, students, donors, volunteers, advocates and patients, whose unwavering dedication make it possible for MD Anderson to deliver outstanding patient care."

MD Anderson also achieved national rankings across various specialties among all hospitals: No. 1 for Ear, Nose & Throat, No. 5 in Urology, and No. 13 in Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, all improvements from the previous year. The institution also received "High Performing Ratings" in common adult procedures and condition ratings: colon cancer surgery; gynecological cancer surgery; leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma treatment; lung cancer surgery; and prostate cancer surgery.

For more than 80 years, MD Anderson has remained steadfast in its mission to eliminate cancer in Texas, across the nation and around the world. As a globally recognized leader in oncology, MD Anderson is devoted to setting the standard in cancer patient care, research, education and prevention.

In addition to its No. 1 ranking for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report, MD Anderson is proud to have maintained a five-star rating in Vizient's 2024 Quality and Accountability scorecard and to be named the top hospital for oncology in Newsweek's 2025 World's Best Specialized Hospitals rankings. The institution also ranks among the world's best in nursing, earning continual recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet Recognition program since 2001. In June, MD Anderson received its sixth consecutive Magnet designation and its first Magnet with Distinction rating, making it one of 26 hospitals worldwide to achieve six or more designations.

"The consistent recognition MD Anderson receives for the quality of compassionate, evidence-based care we provide is an enduring testament to our incredible staff and to those we serve," Pisters said. "We are deeply appreciative of our tremendous team as well as thousands of friends, community supporters and collaborators, for their dedication to every patient and family member affected by cancer."
