Lock 11 on the River Murray at Mildura will be closed for three days from next Tuesday, 15 September 2020 so maintenance works can be completed.
MDBA River Management Executive Director, Andrew Reynolds, said during this time the lock would be closed to boats and other river vessels.
"We regularly review and upgrade the range of infrastructure up and down the Murray River to ensure it's in good working condition and can meet the needs of river users," Mr Reynolds said.
"We appreciate this closure may inconvenience some river users, but for reasons of public safety and the safety of workers, the lock will close along with public access to Lock Island and parts of Rio Vista Park to allow the use of equipment such as cranes."
"During the closure, Goulburn-Murray Water will be installing and load testing a modified lock bridge. Work on the bridge, which provides access across the lock from the park to Lock Island, will increase the capacity of the bridge to carry material and machinery to and from the Mildura weir.
"We encourage boat operators and other river users to take this lock closure into account when planning their activities on the river.
Mr Reynolds said the temporary closure would not affect the normal operation of the Mildura weir in terms of river flow and water supply, and the weir pool would remain at normal operating levels throughout this time.
Further updates will be provided if there are any changes to the closure dates.
