tee-roff beams lifted into place, marking the last of the bridge beams to be installed for the Tonkin Gap Project.

The project which is upgrading Tonkin Highway is also delivering enabling works for the METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line which includes the upgrades to Broun Avenue Bridge.

At more than 60 metres wide and 6.5 metres high, Broun Avenue bridge will be one of Perth's widest roads and bus interchange bridges, accommodating 12 bus stands.

In April this year the old Broun Avenue bridge was deconstructed to make way for the longer, wider structure to accommodate METRONET's Morley-Ellenbrook Line project.

Work on the new Broun Avenue Bridge will continue in the coming months and include the placement of fill and pavement material to connect the road to the new bridge structure, traffic barriers, noise walls and the connection of the new Principal Shared Path.

Other works are also progressing well with nearby Cherry Court being rebuilt and realigned to tie into the new Broun Avenue bridge.

Traffic will be moved to the new section of the bridge when it opens later this year to allow METRONET to start work on the bus interchange that will service the new Morley Train Station.

Once complete the Tonkin Highway upgrades will save commuters between 6-11 minutes during peak periods.

The first 18 beams on the project were installed on the Railway Parade bridge last October and during the course of the project some 92 precast tee-roff bridge beams have been installed.

All bridge beams for the project were made locally in Georgiou Group's precast facility in Hazelmere.

As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:

"The installation of these 18 bridge beams marks a milestone for the new Broun Avenue Bridge, as well as the major Tonkin Gap and METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line projects.

"These are the final tee-roff beams to be installed on the Tonkin Gap project, all of which have been manufactured locally in WA.

"These projects will fundamentally change the way thousands of people access public transport through Perth's north-eastern corridor, and reduce congestion and travel times on one of our state's busiest roads.

"A huge amount of work has gone into delivering the new Broun Avenue Bridge, and we expect traffic to begin flowing on the new section before the end of the year, which will allow for works to begin on the new bus interchange."

As stated by Morley MLA Amber-Jade Sanderson:

"The new Broun Avenue Bridge will be critical to delivering improved public transport for residents in Morley.

"The new bus station and Morley-Ellenbrook Train Line will fundamentally change how people in our community are able to travel around our city, and the final bridge beams are an important milestone for the delivery of these projects."

As stated by Bassendean MLA Dave Kelly:

"Our Government is investing to deliver better transport infrastructure for our community, including people living in and around Bassendean.

"I know the disruptions created by these works can be challenging, and I want to thank the community for their patience as we deliver these critical projects."

As stated by Maylands MLA Lisa Baker:

"It's fantastic to see these works continue to progress and an important milestone being achieved with the installation of the final bridge beams.

"This project is an important one for the communities of Maylands and Bayswater and will not only improve access to public transport, but improve safety, congestions and travel times along key transport corridors."
