MOTCE Appreciates BPOLBF's Readiness to Prepare 1st TWG in Labuan Bajo

– Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (MOTCE) appreciates the readiness of the Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority Board (BPOLBF) to prepare the 1st Tourism Working Group (TWG) at the G20 Indonesia Presidency 2022, which will take place on May 10-11, 2022, in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The Acting Deputy for Resources and Institutions of the MOTCE, Fransiskus Xaverius Teguh, in his statement, delivered that BPOLBF is ready to present various public facilities in Labuan Bajo, which are expected to provide space for the community and tourists. One that has been prepared is Waterfront City.

"The MOTCE and the central government continue to monitor the locations supporting the G20 event, one of which is in Labuan Bajo. BPOLBF together with ministries/agencies and stakeholders have completed the development of the Waterfront City in Labuan Bajo, to support the 1st TWG," according to Fransiskus.

He explained, the presence of Waterfront City was expected to trigger creative ideas for the community, so that it can drive the regional economy and realize the recovery of the tourism and creative economy after the pandemic.

The Managing Director of BPOLBF, Shana Fatina, stated that Waterfront City Labuan Bajo as a collaboration unit across Ministries and Agencies is one of the symbols of Labuan Bajo's readiness for a higher quality tourism ecosystem in NTT as a super priority destination.

"Waterfront City which has become a new magnet for tourism in Labuan Bajo and revive creative community public spaces and local MSMEs that are starting to revive," according to Shana.

Waterfront City Labuan Bajo consists of developments in five zones integrated along 4.5 km. Zone one, to build a pedestrian zone or promenade in Bukit Pramuka; zone two for the construction of a promenade in Kampung Air; zone three for the construction of plazas, viewing towers, public spaces, and passenger terminals; zone four for the construction of promenade which is also part of the BUMN (SOE) hotel plaza; and zone five for the construction of a culinary area promenade with a cantilever structure.

She explained, each zone is equipped with supporting facilities and infrastructure. One of them, Tourist Information Center (TIC) which is in zone three. TIC is built and managed to help visitors find information related to tourism in Labuan Bajo. TIC will be an information center and public service for tourists in Labuan Bajo and its surroundings.

"Labuan Bajo is ready to welcome this international event and other international events in the future. BPOLBF is present as a representation of the central government in the region which orchestrates the entire interests in developing sustainable and competitive Labuan Bajo tourism," Shana added.
