Multiple assault charges, Brassall

Detectives from Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged three people in relation to an alleged assault in Brassall on November 6.

Emergency services were called at approximately 10.15pm to a Henry Street property after a man reported being held against his will by a group of unknown men.

Upon arrival, a 26-year-old Brassall man was located with non-life-threatening injuries.

He was transported to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.

It will be alleged three people threatened the man with weapons, forcing him into a vehicle before driving him around the Ipswich area for a period of time while making demands for money.

Following extensive investigations, police executed search warrants at separate properties in Redbank Plains and Brassall on November 22, leading to the subsequent arrest of two men.

An 18-year-old Redbank Plains man has been charged with one count each of kidnapping, extortion, assaults occasioning bodily harm, receiving tainted property, obtaining or dealing with identification information and fraud.

An 18-yead-old Springfield man has been charged with one count each of kidnapping, extortion, assaults occasioning bodily harm.

Both were remanded in custody, and are due to re-appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court of December 15.

On November 24, police executed a search warrant at a property in Crestmead and took a 17-year-old into custody.

He has been charged with one count each of kidnapping, extortion, assaults occasioning bodily harm, possessing dangerous drugs and receiving tainted property.

He was remanded in custody, and is due to re-appear at Ipswich Childrens Count on January 16.
