Murrindindi Shire Council has celebrated the success of the inaugural Murrindindi Business Month, a program of learning, networking and practical support designed to strengthen local businesses and build long-term economic resilience across the Shire.
Held throughout June, the program brought together business owners, operators and entrepreneurs from across Murrindindi to build skills, share ideas and explore opportunities for growth. A series of free workshops, networking events and information sessions focused on practical topics including marketing, digital capability, artificial intelligence, business efficiency and future planning.
Participants accessed tailored support at different stages of business development, from startups through to established enterprises looking to adapt, diversify or expand. Sessions were designed to provide practical tools and insights that businesses could apply immediately, with a strong emphasis on real-world application and peer learning.
Events were delivered across multiple towns and communities throughout the Shire, helping to ensure accessibility and encouraging broad participation from a diverse range of sectors. Online options also provided flexibility for business owners to balance operational demands.
Over 100 people attended 10 events held across the Shire during June, as well as multiple one-on-one mentoring sessions with industry experts in marketing and business growth.
The program also highlighted Council's broader commitment to supporting local enterprise through coordinated initiatives such as the Business Friendly Council program and the Business Concierge service, which helps business navigate permits, approvals and growth opportunities more easily.
Cr Sandice McAulay, portfolio Councillor for Economic Development, Local Jobs, and Skills reflected on the program, "Murrindindi Business Month proved to be more than just events. It strengthened capability, built confidence, and created valuable connection across our business community. The strong response demonstrates a clear appetite for practical support that helps business navigate change and plan for the future."
Council's Community Capacity Building Officer, Bill Bate, helped launch the program and was proud to see the positive results, "Murrindindi Business Month showcased the value of bringing businesses together to learn from experts and each other. The positive feedback we received reinforced the importance of creating opportunities for local businesses to connect, share experiences and access practical knowledge that support growth, resilience and long-term success."
Council will continue to champion a strong and resilient local economy through skills development, business networking opportunities and initiatives that help local enterprises grow, adapt and succeed.
