Three community projects on the North Coast will share in more than $1million to help restore important habitat as part of the NSW Environmental Trust Environmental Restoration and Rehabilitation program.

The grants are among 12 across NSW to share in more than $4 million to deliver on-ground projects that restore ecosystems, protect native species, and strengthen environmental resilience.

The successful grantees include:

  • Big Scrub Rainforest Conservancy - $349,955

This project will restore two endangered lowland subtropical rainforest communities in the hinterland of Byron Bay using genetically diverse planting stock

  • Goonengerry Landcare Group - $349,730

This project extends Goonengerry Landcare's restoration work on private properties, in the Byron Shire, to strengthen wildlife corridors and support the resilience of nearby Mount Jerusalem, Nightcap and Goonengerry national parks.

  • Tweed Landcare Inc - $350,000

This project will restore high conservation value bushland to connect and expand habitat for threatened species across the Tweed Coast to Border Ranges corridor.
