After attracting thousands of visitors in 2025, the Tweed Regional Museum Street Party returns on Saturday 5 September, transforming Murwillumbah's Museum precinct into a vibrant celebration of music, art, culture and community. The free all-ages event runs from 3 pm to 8 pm.
For one unforgettable spring afternoon and evening, Queensland Road will close to traffic and open to creativity. The street fills with stages, stalls, workshops and installations, becoming a pedestrian village where locals and visitors can wander on foot and enjoy live music, interactive art, cultural experiences, family fun and great food in the heart of Murwillumbah.
Now in its fourth year, the Street Party celebrates the Tweed's rich heritage, biodiversity and creative spirit. It has quickly become one of the region's most anticipated annual gatherings, bringing together artists, musicians, community groups, local businesses and thousands of residents and visitors.
The Street Party is a free all-ages event runs from 3 pm to 8 pm.
"The Street Party is one of those special events that brings people of all ages together," Tweed Regional Museum Acting Director Erika Taylor said.
"Whether you're dancing, creating art with your children, exploring the Museum after dark or simply catching up with friends, there's something for everyone. It's a celebration of what makes the Tweed such a creative, connected and vibrant community."
This year's program features an exciting mix of live music, creative workshops, immersive installations and family-friendly experiences.

Main stage
Opening Welcome to Country by Bundjalung Elder Uncle Franc Krasna, followed by a stellar lineup of live music featuring:

Art installations and experiences
A major feature of this year's event is The Light Within, a large-scale immersive installation by Matthew Aberline and Beautiful and Useful Studio. Featuring 16 luminous "secret garden" gazebos filled with vibrant colours, intricate patterns and hidden fantastical creatures, the artwork invites visitors of all ages to explore, discover and reconnect with a sense of wonder.
Visitors can also enjoy Museum on Wheels, celebrating more than 40 years of Landcare across the Tweed, and join Uncle Franc for yarns exploring the Six Seasons Cultural Calendar and connections to Country.

While you're there, step inside the Museum to explore Ritual, the Museum's latest exhibition.
Bringing together collection objects, artworks, community stories and interactive experiences, Ritual explores the traditions that shape life in the Tweed and celebrates the diverse cultures and communities that make our region unique. From festivals and family traditions to sharing a meal or making a cup of tea, the exhibition examines how rituals help create meaning, connection and belonging in a changing world.
"Ritual is about the things that bring us together and help us feel connected to something larger than ourselves," Erika Taylor said.
"The Street Party does exactly that. For one evening we transform the street to allow people to gather, share stories and have some fun."
Getting there
Queensland Road will be closed to traffic from 7 am to 10 pm on Saturday 5 September.
Parking and event information
Parking is available at the northern end of Queensland Road, adjacent to the soccer fields and showgrounds. Additional parking is available at Knox Park.
Accessible parking spaces are located on Queensland Road at the corner of Ewing Street. Traffic controllers will be on hand to assist and direct visitors requiring accessible parking.
The event will proceed rain, hail or shine wherever possible. In the event of severe weather, updates will be provided via our website and social media channels.
Entry to the Museum Street Party is free.
