MYAC Sets Priorities For 2026 At First Meeting Of Year

Youth Week WA, the Youth Participation Kit revamp and key State youth initiatives were a focus at MYAC's first meeting of 2026.

The Ministerial Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) held its first meeting of the year at Dumas House, bringing young people together to set priorities and shape the 2026 program.

The current cohort of MYAC members comprises 10 young Western Australians aged 15 to 25, representing a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives from across the State. Members provide advice on issues affecting young people by working directly with the Minister for Youth and public sector officials.

Key areas of focus for the year ahead include MYAC's role in supporting Youth Week WA 2026, the redevelopment and launch of the Youth Participation Kit, and initiatives to increase awareness of the Council among secondary school students. Members also received an update on Koorlangka Bidi, the WA Youth Action Plan 2024-2027, with the first Progress Report expected to be released in the coming months.

The meeting also recognised the incredible achievements of MYAC members Lilijana and Alessia, who were recently awarded Community Citizen of the Year by their respective local governments.

Displaying their commitment and passion for advocating for the needs of young people, three members joined the meeting online while holidaying both interstate and overseas.

MYAC will continue to provide a strong youth voice in the development of government policy and programs, supporting initiatives that improve outcomes for young people across Western Australia.
