Calls for proposals to operate and restore Canberra's paddle boats

Canberra's iconic paddle boats, much-loved by generations of locals and visitors alike are a step closer to returning to Lake Burley Griffin.

The National Capital Authority (NCA) is calling for proposals from operators to restore, maintain and operate the 12 paddle boats temporarily removed from service late last year.

It is expected the paddle boats will be based at Regatta Point Beach, and operate a minimum of four-to-six months a year.

The NCA removed the boats from operation in October last year to assess the repairs needed for their future operation.
