Federation Council is pleased to announce the beginning of a significant upgrade at McKnight Park in Urana, with works commencing on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. This essential project involves the removal of the existing toilet facilities and their replacement with a brand-new, modern unisex accessible toilet block.
This upgrade will significantly enhance accessibility and overall amenity for all park users, ensuring a more inclusive and comfortable experience for the Urana community.
Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook, said Council is proud to be delivering this vital upgrade to McKnight Park.
"Improving accessibility and public facilities is a key priority for Council, and this new accessible toilet block will make a real difference to families and individuals using the park," she said.
"Projects like this demonstrate our commitment to creating welcoming and inclusive public spaces for everyone. We thank the community for their patience during the construction period and look forward to the completion of this fantastic new facility."
The $200,000 project is fully funded by the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI) - Phase 4.
Project Timeline and Alternative Facilities: The existing toilet facilities at McKnight Park will be closed to the public from Wednesday, June 4, 2025. The new accessible toilet block is expected to be completed and open to the public by Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
During the construction period, alternative public toilet facilities are available at:
Victoria Park Recreation Ground, Urana.
Public Toilet Block at Urana Aquatic Centre.
Signage, including maps indicating these alternative locations, will be placed at McKnight Park for public convenience. View more information about the project here.
