The new Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Fraser Rise is taking shape, with major construction milestones recently reached.

City of Melton Mayor, Cr Lara Carli, recently joined Federal Member for Gorton, Alice Jordan-Baird MP to tour the site and see firsthand the progress on the project.

The exciting new community facility is rapidly taking shape, with both the pool structures and main building now clearly visible on site - marking a significant step forward in delivering Melton City Council's biggest ever capital project.

All underground support work is now complete, with 2.3 kilometres of piling installed, equivalent to stacking nearly seven Eiffel Towers on top of each other. Construction of the Learn to Swim pool is well underway and work is progressing on the 50-metre pool. Above-ground construction of the main building has also begun, including the installation of pre-cast wall panels and underground services.

The Aquatic and Leisure Centre is set to become a major destination for health, wellbeing and community connection, bringing aquatic and fitness facilities, allied health services, and community meeting spaces together under one roof.

A standout feature of the development is a dedicated sensory pool space - the first of its kind in Australia - designed to provide a calm, low-sensory environment in the water. The space is being carefully designed to support people with diverse sensory and access needs, with features such as considered lighting, acoustics, tactile elements, accessible seating and interactive components.

Council is proud to deliver this project in partnership with the Australian Government. The project has received $15 million from the Australian Government's Thriving Suburbs Program.
