New Beenyup Primary School proving popular with local families

  • Fast-growing new primary school already has nearly 180 students
  • $19 million Beenyup Primary School is the fifth public primary school in Byford
  • Important McGowan Government election commitment delivered for growing suburb
  • Premier Mark McGowan visited the new state-of-the-art Beenyup Primary School in Byford today.

Beenyup Primary School, which first opened its doors in February this year, already has 174 students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

Touring the $19 million school, the Premier viewed bright new learning spaces, which include three general teaching buildings, an art room, early childhood teaching building, and an administration area with adjoining dental therapy centre.

There is also a library, a covered assembly area with a canteen, and a music room. Children’s outdoor activities are well catered for, with hard courts, a cricket pitch and nets, and an oval.

The school was built to accommodate up to 540 students and is expected to ease enrolment pressure from the nearby Woodland Grove Primary School.

It was designed for wireless access to support up-to-date technology for student learning.

As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:

“The population of Byford is growing at a rapid rate, and that’s why fantastic new education facilities such as Beenyup Primary School are so important.

“We will continue to deliver quality education in the outer suburbs, where many families now live.

“Clearly the school is already proving popular with local parents, and it’s good to see strong student growth in what is a first class local facility.

“The school’s vision of ‘Building brighter futures together’ affirms its staff members’ commitment to provide a strong sense of belonging and the opportunity for every child, every day to find joy, be challenged and experience success.”
