The new fit-for-purpose Brockman Community Centre in Beechboro has officially opened, ensuring important social and support services continue to be provided, and to promote a healthy, inclusive and empowered local community.

The City of Swan undertook the project, which was made possible with a funding commitment from the State Government of $5 million, including Lotterywest support of $683,405, and $200,000 from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said it was important to ensure the community's needs are properly supported and to engage the community throughout the process.

"This is an incredibly valuable service that has supported countless people in our community for more than 35 years," he said.

"The City worked with Brockman Community House to determine their requirements and consulted with the community in order to assist with the location and construction of this wonderful new facility."

Mayor Lucas acknowledged the dedicated staff and volunteers who run the Centre and thanked them for their patience and understanding during the transition.

"Their passion and dedication each day does not go unnoticed; they are incredibly valuable to our community," he said.

"Creating an inclusive thriving community is one of the priority areas of Lotterywest's grant-making framework, which aims to raise community connection and reduce vulnerability and disadvantage," said Lotterywest and Healthway CEO Ralph Addis.

"Brockman Community House's mission goes hand in hand with this, and we are honoured to play our part in providing families in the Beechboro area with a space and the resources to support their wellbeing and strengthen their sense of belonging.

"I look forward to seeing the positive impact this facility will have on the WA community."

Brockman Community House was established in 1986 to support the community with opportunities to learn new skills through various programs and workshops and provide child care.

The area has since experienced considerable population growth and the services and programs offered to the community increased, which has led to a need for a new facility.
