New Flights Boost Western Australia's Global Links

  • Perth boosted by additional flights from Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines, and All Nippon Airways
  • Additional Jetstar direct flight launch connects Manila to Perth
  • Expanded and new services to deliver thousandsof additional inbound seats annually
  • Part of the Cook Government's economic diversification strategy to generate valuable tourism dollars for local business and support local jobs

Western Australia's international aviation network continues to grow, with three major airlines expanding services from key markets across Asia into Perth.

The State's global aviation links will be boosted through the increase in international flight services, including:

  • Cathay Pacific now operating double daily flights between Hong Kong and Perth;
  • Malaysia Airlines upscaling to double daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Perth from today; and
  • All Nippon Airways upscaling to daily flights between Tokyo and Perth from today, until 19 April 2026.

The increase in frequencies follows the launch of Jetstar's Manila to Perth direct flight in November 2025 and comes just days after the resumption of China Southern Airlines' seasonal direct route from Guangzhou to Perth.

The expansions and new service are expected to bring tens of thousands of additional inbound seats into WA each year, supporting the Cook Government's economic diversification strategy boosting tourism, trade, and investment opportunities for local businesses and local jobs.

These expansions are particularly significant, as visitors from Asia account for approximately 50 per cent of all international arrivals to Western Australia.

The flights further bolster Perth's reputation as Australia's Western Gateway, with 23international airlines now servicing the State's 20 non-stop routes from international destinations.

As stated by Tourism Minister Reece Whitby:

"More flights mean more visitors to our incredible State, more opportunities for tourism operators to showcase their offerings, and more jobs for Western Australians in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

"These expanded services are a strong endorsement of Western Australia's growing appeal as a tourism and business destination.

"Securing additional nonstop aviation services will provide a valuable boost to our tourism economy, supporting local businesses and local jobs, part of the Cook Government's economic diversification strategy in attracting out-of-state visitors to WA."
