New Housing Opportunities Next To Wellard Train Station

  • Three development ready sites available in Wellard Town Centre
  • Sites have the potential to support delivery of up to 200 homes near Wellard Station
  • Cook Labor Government focused on unlocking land supply and delivering new housing near public transport

The Cook Labor Government has announced the release of three development sites in the heart of the Wellard Town Centre to support the delivery of more homes in Perth's south.

Located immediately next to the METRONET Wellard Station, the three sites range from 3,970sqm to 8,569sqm and have the capacity to deliver up to 200 dwellings.

The release will increase housing diversity in the Wellard community by delivering new residential, mixed-use, or complementary commercial uses.

The sites are surrounded by local shopping, dining, and essential community services and are close to public transport.

They are available for purchase via private treaty and enable developers to deliver much-needed housing supply in a well-connected location.

The release is part of the Cook Labor Government's efforts to ensure every Western Australian has a home and to deliver more infill along public transit corridors.

It follows a record investment of $4.7 billion in the 2026-27 State Budget to drive housing supply and boost affordability across WA, taking the State Labor Government's investment in housing and homelessness measures to $10.8 billion since 2021.

As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:

"METRONET has unlocked incredible opportunities for housing across our suburbs and is helping to create better-connected and more vibrant communities.

"This land in the heart of Wellard will support the delivery of up to 200 homes for Western Australians close to the shops, job opportunities and community services.

"It's all part of our government's commitment to delivering more housing supply and choice to ensure every Western Australian has a place to call home."

Comments attributed to Planning and Lands Minister John Carey:

"Our government is committed to unlocking well-located land to boost housing supply and provide more diversity in our suburbs.

"These lots are right next to the Wellard Train Station and have the potential to deliver more well-located density."
