New Queensland Protective Officers Boost Security

Twenty newly appointed Protective Services Officers (PSOs) have embarked on their careers with the Queensland Police Service.

The cohort who graduated from Oxley Police Academy is the most recent addition to QPS' Protective Services Group (PSG). The PSOs will fill a crucial role in providing security to state government buildings and assets while working closely with Queensland Police Officers to ensure the community's safety.

These officers bring valuable experience from their previous careers, which include private security, construction and sport and fitness.

Amongst Queensland's newest Protective Services Officers are Christopher Owens who was the Night Watch Chaplin in Fortitude Valley. He now joins three other family members in transitioning to Protective Services Group. Additionally, Tiago Da Rocha Alexandre joins Protective Services Group after spending 16 years as a Portuguese Police Officer.

During the seven-week PSO training program, officers earned while they learned, enabling a total commitment to their comprehensive training. The program has equipped them with the knowledge and skills to prepare them for their roles.
