New STI Campaign Launches

The next phase of WA Health's Healthysexual campaign will include syphilis, in response to sustained infection rates – particularly among 15 to 19-year-olds in regional Western Australia and high-risk populations in metropolitan Perth.

Building on the successful 'Hard to Spell, Easy to Treat' messaging from the gonorrhoea campaign, this new work focuses on preventing syphilis transmission, regular testing, and encouraging open, stigma-free conversations around sexual health. The campaign reinforces that anyone can be a healthy sexual by following 2 steps: 'use condoms, get tested.'

Messaging will run across social media, mass media including out-of-home placements, and the Healthysexual website. It targets people aged 16 to 49, with an emphasis on young people, pregnant people, and Aboriginal communities.

With syphilis remaining prevalent in WA, the campaign aims to educate, reduce stigma, and empower individuals to take control of their sexual health.
