Lights on at Bumstead Road
Mayor Jon Raven and Division 5 Councillor Paul Jackson switched on the new traffic signals at the intersection of Julie Street and Bumstead Road, marking the completion of a major road safety upgrade.
The Logan City Council project was delivered with support from the Australian Government's Black Spot Program.
Eleven crashes were recorded at the intersection over a five-year period, with three requiring medical treatment.
The installation of traffic lights is expected to reduce the risk of future crashes and provide safer access for all road users.
Other safety improvements at the intersection include a new right turn lane into Julie Street, signalised and raised pedestrian crossings, on-road bike lanes, improved street lighting, a new footpath, road resurfacing and updated line marking.
