Council has endorsed a new masterplan for Noosa Botanic Gardens at Lake Macdonald.
Shaped by community feedback it sets a clear path for future improvements and infrastructure upgrades.
The work responds to calls for more parking and a collections plan to ensure all plant species are permanently recorded, and plantings and removals well planned.
Mayor Frank Wilkie said the long-term masterplan will bolster Council's ability to secure state and federal funding.
"It sets out clearly our aspirations for the gardens which will support our case for funding as we look to deliver key elements," he said.
"This masterplan will ensure Noosa Botanic Gardens remain a vibrant, inclusive and accessible destination that celebrates nature, culture and community."
More than 250 people and a stakeholder reference group helped guide the masterplan's development across two community engagement phases.
"It's heartening to achieve more than 90 per cent support for the overall direction of the master plan among those surveyed during the consultation," Stakeholder Reference Group Chair, Cr Karen Finzel, said.
Residents shared views through pop-ups and activities at the gardens, surveys, and targeted discussions with groups such as Friends of Noosa Botanic Gardens and Cooroy Chamber of Commerce.
Cr Finzel said Council will deliver the plan in stages.
"The first two years focus on repairs, safety improvements, planning work, programs, tree audits and garden bed renewal," she said.
"Years three to five focus on delivery of infrastructure upgrades, improved amenities, upgraded play spaces, and greater activation of the space through events, tours and after-hours activities."
From year six, Council will pursue major projects and signature facilities to enhance the gardens' appeal.
Key projects include moving the depot area and converting its current site into green space, plus new and expanded community facilities, amenities, large shelter area, upgraded accessible pathways, and a new nature inspired play area.
"The masterplan champions stewardship of the gardens, ensuring the landscape is climate change resilient, accessible, activated and vibrant, well-designed and a place that is educational while celebrating heritage and culture," Mayor Wilkie said.
"Council greatly appreciates the input of everyone who took the time to have a say to help shape this important blueprint."
