Waikato Police have arrested and charged three people in relation to a number of burglaries across the district and are working hard to identify and locate further offenders.
Police believe those that have been arrested, and their co-offenders, responsible for a large proportion of recent incidents across the city and rural Waikato involving commercial premises.
The details of those charged are:
1. 17-year-old male charged with six burglaries and four vehicle related offences
2. 17-year-old male charged with four burglaries and two vehicle related offences
3. 19 year old male charged with four burglaries and two vehicle related offences.
The two 17-year-olds are expected to appear in Hamilton Youth Court tomorrow.
The 19-year-old will next appear in Hamilton District Court on the 15 November 2022.
Staff are working with urgency to hold offenders involved in this activity accountable and identify co-offenders connected to previous incidents.
As part of Police investigations, four search warrants were executed in relation to the recent burglaries across Hamilton and in Tamahere.
This enforcement activity has resolved these commercial burglaries.
Acting Detective Inspector Matt Cranshaw says Police are also following strong lines of enquiry to locate further offenders.
"We know these incidents are extremely stressful for these business owners and the wider community.
"We are committed to following up any information given to us, and working hard to ensure those responsible for this offending are held to account."
