Officer Charged With Driving Offenses in SW Metro

An off-duty police officer has been charged with driving offences following a vehicle stop in southwest Sydney.

About 8.45pm yesterday (Monday 15 June 2026), officers attached to Campbelltown Traffic and Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Camden Valley Way, Gregory Hills, when they stopped a vehicle after it was allegedly detected travelling at 200km/h in an 80km/h zone.

The driver – a 22-year-old man – was subjected to roadside breath and drug tests, which both returned negative results.

The man – a constable attached to a South West Metropolitan Region command - was issued a Court Attendance Notice for organise or promote or take part in race, drive in manner speed dangerous, and exceed speed over 45kph.

The man is due to appear before Picton Local Court on Thursday 23 July 2026, and his licence was suspended.

The officer's employment is currently under review.
