OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Christophe Kamp visited Ukraine from 26 February to 5 March 2026, and travelled to Kyiv and Chernivtsi. In Kyiv, Kamp met with Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariana Betsa. He also met with the senior leadership of the Ministry of Education and Science, the State Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience, the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory and with the State Language Commissioner.
During his visit, the High Commissioner discussed Ukraine's legal and institutional framework that governs national minority issues with representatives of the Office of the President of Ukraine and the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada, as well as with experts and representatives of national minorities and civil society organizations.
In Kyiv, the High Commissioner inaugurated a "Strasbourg Format" meeting on the future of Crimean Tatars, which was co-organized by his office together with the Council of Europe and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. In this context, he also met separately with representatives of the Crimean Tatar people.
In Chernivtsi, Kamp had the opportunity to assess the implementation of national policies at the regional level. He met with the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration, as well as other public and elected officials. Kamp also met with representatives of national minority communities, civil society and academia, and visited a Romanian-language secondary school.
