As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:

"I want to personally thank everyone for their co-operation over this long weekend.

"The lockdown was the circuit breaker that we needed to help crush and contain the virus, and keep the community safe.

"The past few days have been challenging, but as a result of our efforts from midnight tonight we can transition to post-lockdown measures.

"While lockdown will end at midnight tonight, people who have been in Perth and Peel since April 17 will need to comply with a number of restrictions until 12.01am Saturday (May 1).

"As always, we will continue to monitor the situation, and if we need to make any adjustments, we will.

"We have crushed the virus before and we will do it again - by everyone doing what is required to keep each other safe."

As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:

"The threat of COVID-19 is not going away. There is no room for complacency, we must all do our part in keeping Western Australians safe.

"We understand the disruptions changes to elective surgery has, but we hope it is a temporary measure.

"The events of the last few days have reminded us all how important it is to use the SafeWA app or to fill in the contact register at businesses.

"We've maintained caution in this unpredictable COVID-19 journey.

"As we move into the next phase of restrictions, please continue to use the SafeWA app. It helps to keep everyone safe."
