Pioneer Settlement to re-open tomorrow

Council is excited to announce that the Pioneer Settlement will be re-opening its doors on Thursday, 12 November- just in time for the festive season.

Council's Director Development and Planning Heather Green said waiting until COVID-19 restrictions had eased to current levels ensured the entire site and experiences would be available to their visitors.

"The Pyap and Heartbeat of the Murray experiences were able to resume a little earlier and now, with the further easing of restrictions is right time to open up the Settlement entirely.

"The Pioneer Settlement will be reopening on Thursday, 12 November.

"Trading hours have been reduced with the Settlement reopening from Thursday to Monday initially, in the lead up to Christmas," Ms Green said.

Ms Green added that Council had been working hard to ensure appropriate measures were in place at the site to stop the potential risk of coronavirus.

"Visitors will notice some differences at the Pioneer Settlement, including certain restrictions to ensure social distancing requirements are met," Ms Green said.

Ms Green said the re-opening of the Pioneer Settlement was another important step in supporting local tourism and businesses.

"Like many rural and regional areas, our local tourism industry has taken a significant hit due to the coronavirus pandemic," she said.

"We are delighted to now be able to welcome visitors back to the Swan Hill region and the Pioneer Settlement, and we are particularly looking forward to welcoming back our Hometown Heroes and the local community they have been dearly missed," Ms Green said.
