Plan to unlock growth potential across Numurkah, Katunga, and Strathmerton.
Moira Shire Council has adopted the Numurkah, Katunga and Strathmerton Growth Corridor Plan, setting a clear path for future growth and investment across the region.
The plan aims to strengthen the area's economy and support long-term prosperity.
Contributing an estimated $1.1billion each year to the economy, the corridor is home to around 6,700 residents and supports 3,000 jobs, driven by strong agriculture and manufacturing sectors.
The plan responds to key challenges, including workforce shortages, housing supply and changes in water use.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson said the Plan provides a clear and coordinated approach to support the region's future.
"Key actions include advocating for growth-enabling infrastructure, improving local liveability, and supporting tourism and new business opportunities. Council will also strengthen planning policy to recognise the corridor's importance and continue monitoring land supply," Dr Emonson said.
"Local priorities are also identified across the three towns. In Numurkah, Council will review industrial land planning. In Katunga, priorities include advocating for sewer infrastructure and improving connections to nearby horticulture facilities. In Strathmerton, Council will support the town following the closure of Bega operations and work to enhance local amenity and infrastructure."
The Growth Corridor Plan provides a strong, coordinated approach to support jobs, investment and community wellbeing across Moira Shire and can be viewed on Councils website.
