Police appeals for help to locate man ends in tragedy

Around 7.30am Wednesday, 2 October 2019, police were advised that members of the public had located a backpack and car keys on Bluff Knoll belonging to 51-year-old Mathew DWYER.

His vehicle, a white Nissan Campervan was located in the car park at Bluff Knoll north east of Albany in the Great Southern region.

Albany Police working with local Rangers and Department of Fire and Emergency Services commenced a search of the area.

Just before midday, Thursday 3 October 2019, search teams in the Bluff Knoll area located the body of a man. The identity of the man is yet to be confirmed however the body is believed to be that of Mathew DWYER.

The body was located at the base of a steep incline.

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and the WA Police Force advise that the Bluff Knoll Road, Carpark and walk trail remain closed to the public due to this police operation, until further notice.
