Police arrest man after evade police incident

About 9.25pm last night (16/12), officers attempted to stop a vehicle (an MG MG3 hatchback) at the intersection of Alexander Drive and Marangaroo Drive, Koondoola.

The driver failed to stop and continued on Marangaroo Drive in Marangaroo before discharging flares at Police. The flares started a scrub fire and Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called to extinguish the fire.

Police Air Wing officers assisted ground vehicles in the area.

The driver was apprehended on a semi-rural property located on Barragoon Road in Caraban after he had pushed the vehicle into the Moore River. The vehicle is fully submerged and will be recovered today.

A 28-year-old man from Westminster is due to appear in the Joondalup Magistrates Court today, 17 December 2021 on the charges of:-

• Attempt to Strike a Person with any kind of Projectile;

• Driver of a Vehicle Failed to Comply with a Direction to Stop (circumstance of aggravation);

• No Authority to Drive;

• Stealing;

• Aggravated Burglary and Commit; and

• Reckless Diving to Escape Pursuit by Police.
