Police arrest man after pursuit across Adelaide suburbs, South Australia

A man has been arrested after a pursuit throughout the metropolitan area this morning.

Police will allege that about 2.35am today (Tuesday 27 April), two men were seen acting suspiciously near a second-hand dealer store on South Road, Mile End.

When a patrol stopped to speak to the pair, they got in a Ford Festiva sedan and sped off towards Port Road.

The car was pursued and road spikes were deployed on Regency Road, but the Ford avoided them and continued on towards the northern suburbs along Main North Road.

The car was followed by police to Cobbler Circuit at Salisbury Heights about 3.30am, then into a dead-end street at Creek Rise. The Ford then reversed into a patrol car and sped off.

The patrol car sustained minor damage and the officer was not injured.

The Festiva was then dumped on The Grove Way at Golden Grove, and the driver and passenger fled the scene.

Further enquiries led police to a house in Ovingham, where they located the driver.

The 40-year-old Hendon man will face numerous charges including dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit. He will be refused bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
