Police arrest man after serious assault in Sydney

A man has been arrested following the assault of another man in Sydney yesterday.

About 6.15pm (Friday 29 May 2020), emergency services were called to a unit block on Day Street, Sydney, following reports of an assault.

On arrival officers found a 26-year-old man suffering serious head injuries.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital where he remains in a serious condition suffering multiple head fractures and lacerations, and a fractured hand.

A second man, also aged 26, was found in the premises and appeared to be suffering a medical condition.

He was arrested before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he remains under police guard.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command established a crime scene inside the home which has been forensically examined.

As investigations continue, officers expect to lay charges upon his release from RPA.
