Police arrest man after woman stabbed at Randwick

A man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed in Randwick.

Emergency services were called to Roberts Avenue at Randwick about 4.30pm today (Wednesday 31 January 2024) after reports of a stabbing.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended and found a woman with stab wounds to her head and upper body.

The woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to St Vincent's Hospital; her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police have been told the woman was involved in an argument with a man known to her before he allegedly stabbed her.

The 25-year-old man was apprehended by members of the public on Frenchman's Road shortly after the incident.

The man was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital under police guard as a precaution.

Multiple crime scenes have been established in the area which continue to be forensically examined.

Roberts Avenue has been closed; motorists and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.
