The $150 million Eurobodalla Southern Storage facility is now complete, providing improved water security for the New South Wales south coast region.
The project includes the new Tuross River pump station and a new 3,000 megalitre off-river water storage dam near Bodalla.
Once full, the storage facility will provide a vital backup water source during drought and periods of high demand.
Water is pumped from the Tuross River during periods of high river flows. It is then stored in the new dam for use when supplies are under pressure.
The dam is expected to reach capacity by mid-2027, subject to river conditions.
Regional benefits
Once full, the storage facility will help keep water flowing to homes, businesses and farms across the Eurobodalla Shire. Flow on benefits include:
- reducing likelihood of water restrictions
- greater resilience during droughts and periods of high demand
- managing water supplies sustainably.
Funding
The project is jointly funded by the Australian Government, the New South Wales Government and Eurobodalla Shire Council. Australian Government funding is provided through the National Water Grid Fund.
