Police arrest man over Dover Gardens pursuit, South Australia

A man has been arrested following a pursuit at Dover Gardens this evening.

Police attempted to stop a white Hyundai Getz about 7.45pm on Saturday 17 August on Morphett Road however the driver refused to stop.

The Hyundai was pursued as it travelled north towards Sturt Road but was terminated shortly after.

The car was then spotted a few minutes later heading north on Diagonal Road. Officers did not pursue the car but set up cordons and kept it under observation as it headed towards Glenelg.

It was seen heading north on Tapleys Hill Road before turning off into Clovelly Avenue. The Hyundai started travelling north on Adelphi Terrace but quickly conducted a u-turn before colliding with a light pole.

Patrols were quickly at the scene and arrested the driver.

A 62-year-old man of no fixed address is expected to be charged with failing to stop for police and other traffic matters, and to be refused bail.

Investigations are continuing and inquiries are being made to check if the car is stolen.
