Police have arrested a man and a woman and located an imitation firearm following an alleged road rage incident in the city on Saturday night.
Investigators have been told the occupants of two cars were involved in a verbal altercation near the intersection of Flinders Lane and King Street about 8.50pm.
Witnesses said one of the occupants of a whit Mazda sedan brandished a firearm and pointed it towards the occupants of a black Nissan Pulsar.
Police were notified and stopped the Mazda a short time later near the intersection of King Street and Little Bourke Street.
A 25-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, both from Melbourne, were arrested at the scene.
The car was searched and an imitation firearm located.
The pair are assisting police with their enquires.
